I have to start a post somehow… so why not with the review of Cara and Drew’s wedding ceremony and reception at Jekyll Island, GA on June 21 2008? Just a few weeks back…

This has to have been one of the top 5 stylish weddings I have done this past year… ok, top 10. I have done a lot of elegant wedding receptions in Atlanta, Savannah, Charleston, Jekyll Island and even in Destin and Jacksonville FL!
The crazy thing about this particular event was how much color was infused by the bride, and just how fashionable it really was!
Take a look at some of the photos (provided by Scarlett Lillian – an amazing fashion style shooter)… check her out at https://www.scarlettlillian.net/ (blog) or her site at https://www.scarlettlilllian.com/ .
So you see all the color? Obviously an outdoor ceremony right? …imagine how the bride felt when…it rained JUST before her outdoor ceremony was to take place… ok, for me, as the “DJ” part, I was supposed to be playing the ceremony music….so I had already set up and had to break down and move inside the Jekyll Island Club “emergency ceremony room” …
When I was inside, I saw the bride for the first time in her dress – and she was crying! Because the rain was ruining her outdoor wedding ceremony dreams — so, if you know me, I will do absolutely anything for the client – so I told her if she wanted to wait and see if the rain would slow, we could set up (again) outside.
Needless to say, (and to make a long story short) the bride requested we move outside…the rain was coming in bands, which meant start, stop, start, stop…. I ended up moving back and forth three times – and setting up each time – just so Cara could have her sunny day.
The funniest part of the story is on the third time the father of the bride came up and said… “um… I am supposed to ask you something….” and I said.. “let me guess….”
The amazing part of the story is that the grandparents of the bride were delayed for whatever reason and would have missed the ceremony if things had gone according to schedule… and actually arrived just in time to be escorted down the aisle …. it was an amazing event – once it finally started!
Here are the comments from the bride and groom, and the bride’s parents…

Hi Joel, I wanted to send you an email to tell you what a fantastic job you did at Cara and Drew’s wedding. We are so grateful for your patience and understanding when the weather did not cooperate. We felt bad to put you through all the back and forth with multiple set ups. You set up three times! You were amazing! The Hotel staff went on and on about how great you are to work with – Now we understand – Thank you for that! Our guests are still talking about how great the D.J. / Entertainer was and how fun you made the reception. The music is key to the whole event and you made it all come together. Thank you so much from my husband and myself and from Cara and Drew. We will give you a rave review any time. Again thank you for a wonderful evening we will never forget. And next time we need a fantastic D.J., we know where to find you!Wishing you the best,

Hey Joel! Sorry it’s taken so long for me to get back to you, things have been so crazy since the wedding ended, it’s weird how life just keeps going. Although that day everyone, INCLUDING you, made Drew and I feel like we were the only ones in the world. I could never find the words to thank you enough for making the vision of our outdoor wedding come to life, even with the rain setting everything back. You worked so hard and I know it was such a pain, but I can never tell you how much that meant to us. You went above and beyond to ensure that our day was everything we wanted it to be. From the moment that music started and the wedding party was walking down the aisle, memories were made that we will never forget. You were so caring and helpful and I still remember seeing you for the first time in that little room and just crying so hard, I knew right then that you were going to help do anything you could to make my wedding dreams come true. My biggest regret throughout the whole wedding was that we couldn’t have the reception longer because you were so amazing! Everyone was having such a great time and even Drew’s grandmother who we have NEVER seen dance was up on the dance floor. There were so many memorable moments during the course of that day and you were the reason for so many of them. You are amazing at what you do and your talent speaks for itself, anyone would be lucky to have you as their DJ and I am so glad we had the opportunity. Thank you so much and we look forward to working with you in one way or another in the future. All our love and thanks,Cara and Drew
