Themed Dinners
Many couples are having fun with themed wedding menus this year! Whether the featured food is a beachy seafood display, a Thai feast, or a variety of Southern comfort foods, keeping a wedding menu to a specific theme can be really fun. Also, the foods will compliment one another deliciously!
Indianapolis wedding planner, Josh Gurvitz explains the hot 2011 food trend to the Indianapolis Star, “From a traditional New England clambake to a spicy Southern barbecue, theme-wedding menus create a fun, exciting, and memorable event. It might even be the way you eat the food that stays in your guests’ minds – cracking crabs at a Maryland riverside wedding, nibbling satay at a Thai-inspired city garden reception, or one of my faves was roasting marshmallows over a bonfire at a chic Zionsville (Ind.) wedding.”
Wedding Pies or Cupcakes Instead of a Cake
The cupcake trend is still on the rise this year, and with shows like Cupcake Wars on Food Network and DC Cupcakes on TLC, wedding cupcakes will probably still be pretty popular for a while!
Other couples are opting for wedding pies this year! The idea of serving many different flavors of pies to guests in lieu of 1-2 cakes is a great way to offer them more of a variety! It’s also much less pricey than most large, many tiered wedding cakes!
Mini Foods
Another wonderful way of giving your guests the option of a great variety of foods is to offer a display of miniature foods! Sliders/other mini sandwiches and individual cakes have definitely been at the top of this trend, but the options are really endless—couples are simply having their favorite foods prepared in mini portions, allowing their guests to have as much or as little as they want.
