Join me, Joel Rabe, for Session 1 of Intercessory Prayer and Bible Study as we open Romans 1–4 and ask what it means to live by faith in Jesus Christ.

We begin with prayer and an honest conversation about fear, temptation, intrusive thoughts, and the armor of God. How do we resist the enemy without living in condemnation? How can Scripture help us test what we hear, renew our minds, and stay rooted in the Lord’s mercy?

Then we turn to Paul’s letter to the Romans. Romans 1 introduces the gospel as “the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth” (Romans 1:16, KJV). We consider the danger of exchanging the truth of God for a lie, and why gratitude and worship matter. Romans 2 challenges hypocritical judgment: before helping someone else, we must examine ourselves. That leads to a practical conversation about discerning conduct, approaching others gently, and leaving hidden motives and final judgment to God.

In Romans 3, we face the reality that all have sinned—and the good news that justification is God’s gift through Jesus Christ. Romans 4 brings us to Abraham, whose faith was counted as righteousness before he was circumcised. His story invites us to trust God’s promise even while we wait.

We also look at how the Lord’s kindness leads us toward repentance and how confession restores honest fellowship. These passages invite courage in spiritual struggle and humility when we speak to one another.

This is a live study with real questions, shared experiences, intercessory prayer, and room to search the Scriptures together. Bring your Bible and follow along in Romans 1–4, James 4:1–10, Ephesians 6:10–18, and Matthew 7:1–5.

Which passage challenged or encouraged you most? Share it in the comments, and subscribe for the next session in Romans.

Core Teaching: Seeking God with All Your Heart
Joel delivered the primary spiritual message of the call, centered on what it means to earnestly seek God, drawing from scripture and the teachings of Sandhu Senhar.
- Details
- Joel: Referenced 2 Chronicles 15:12 — "They entered into a covenant to seek the Lord God of their fathers with all their heart and with their soul" — framing it as a relational covenant, not merely a promise.
- Joel: Described how people who sought God earnestly in scripture would lock themselves in a room and refuse to leave until they received an answer from God.
- Joel: Noted that a woman from Germany reached out the same morning asking for prayer and direction regarding her God-given skills and calling, which he saw as confirmation of the message's relevance.
- Joel: Contrasted the Greek meaning of "follow me" (walk behind, be with) with the deeper Hebrew and Aramaic meaning (put down everything, never look back, enter into relationship).
- Joel: Referenced Acts 1:24 ("Lord, you know the hearts") and 2 Peter 3:1–7 on inner obedience versus outward performance.
- Joel: Discussed the fruit of the Spirit versus the fruit of the soul, using the metaphor of scent/perfume to describe how discernment is trained through abiding in God.
- Joel: Encouraged participants to set aside dedicated time — even going without sleep — to seek God specifically for direction on their current assignments.
- Joel: Shared that he had previously undertaken a two-day dry fast for a person named Kevin, and reflected that a prior fast lacked the full commitment of not leaving until hearing from God.
- A chat participant: Posted "Just what I need to hear today" during the message.
- Conclusion
- Participants were encouraged to move beyond brief, transactional prayer into a posture of earnest, covenant-level seeking of God.
- Joel committed to releasing a PDF resource in the group with relevant scriptures, Hebrew/Aramaic/Greek word studies, and video clips on the topic.
---
Closing Group Prayer
Joel led the group in an extended prayer covering multiple spiritual themes.
- Details
- Joel: Led prayer covering thanksgiving, repentance, the armor of God (breastplate of righteousness, helmet of salvation, belt of truth, shield of faith, sword of the Word, gospel of peace), the seven spirits of the Lord, clarity for personal assignments, and the identity of believers as the bride of Christ.
- Joel: Prayed specifically for each participant's projects and assignments, asking for the Holy Spirit to "connect the dots" and bring clarity.
- Chat participants: Responded with "Amen 🙏" in the chat.
- Conclusion
- The prayer served as a corporate declaration and commissioning for participants to pursue their God-given assignments with spiritual clarity and protection.

## Morning Prayer, Divine Appointments & Fire Prayer | Session Recap

In this powerful morning gathering, the group was reminded that God often works through the ordinary moments of life to accomplish extraordinary Kingdom purposes.

The session began with Scheri sharing an inspiring testimony about an unexpected divine appointment during a family dinner at a hibachi restaurant. Although she and her daughter were initially reluctant to go, they chose to support her husband's decision. That simple act of surrender led to a remarkable encounter with a young man named Jazeer, who boldly shared his faith in Jesus Christ with their family.

Jazeer openly testified about how God had transformed his life over the past three years, and the conversation naturally turned toward Scripture. Scheri encouraged him with passages including Romans 12:2, Revelation 12:11, Paul's transformation from Saul to Paul, and Rahab's faith in Joshua. Throughout the conversation, her husband remained mostly quiet, but it was evident that God was working in his heart. Before leaving, he surprised everyone by paying for Jazeer and his entire group's meal—an act Scheri described as completely out of character. Later, he admitted that the encounter had deeply impacted him.

Joel reflected on this testimony by emphasizing an important spiritual principle: when we surrender our plans and remain open to God's leading, He often orchestrates divine appointments that we could never have planned ourselves. Had Scheri and her daughter insisted on going somewhere else, the entire encounter would have been missed. Joel encouraged everyone to ask, "Lord, are You working through this moment?" rather than allowing personal preferences or hesitation to interfere with what God may be doing.

The discussion reinforced the importance of remaining sensitive to the Holy Spirit in everyday life, recognizing that God often uses ordinary conversations, unexpected relationships, and simple acts of obedience to plant eternal seeds in people's hearts.

The group then entered into a time of prayer led by Scheri and Joel. Scheri opened by thanking God for His faithfulness and praying the full Armor of God over every participant, asking the Lord to clothe each person with the helmet of salvation, breastplate of righteousness, belt of truth, shoes of the Gospel of peace, shield of faith, and sword of the Spirit. She prayed for wisdom, protection, and guidance throughout the day.

Joel continued with an extended prayer focusing on spiritual growth and preparation for God's presence. He prayed for the fruits of the Spirit—including love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control—to become increasingly evident in every believer's life. He encouraged everyone to keep the "sword of the Spirit" sharp through daily study of God's Word, to release unforgiveness and bitterness, to guard every gate of the heart, mind, and senses, and to rest fully in the finished work of Jesus Christ. He also prayed that believers would hear God's voice more clearly and be prepared for divine encounters, drawing parallels to Moses preparing to meet God on the mountain.

Following the prayer, Joel felt led to lead the group into worship by playing "Worthy of It All" by CeCe Winans. The song created a beautiful atmosphere of praise, reminding everyone that Jesus alone is worthy of all honor, glory, and worship.

The session concluded with a powerful fire prayer focused on divine protection and spiritual warfare. Standing on promises from Psalm 18:2, Psalm 91, and Isaiah 54:17, Joel declared the blood of Jesus over every participant, their families, loved ones, homes, and places of travel. He prayed against every spirit of accident, premature death, fear, witchcraft, demonic assignment, and satanic scheme, declaring that no weapon formed against God's people would prosper. He asked the Lord to dispatch His warring angels to protect each family and destroy every plan of the enemy before it could take root.

The morning closed with encouragement for everyone to remain in God's Word, continue sharpening their spiritual discernment, pray daily for loved ones, and stay sensitive to the Holy Spirit's leading. Above all, participants were reminded that God often works through simple acts of obedience and surrendered hearts, turning ordinary moments into life-changing divine appointments that reveal His love, power, and faithfulness.

**Morning Prayer, Spiritual Warfare & Walking in Christ | Executive Summary**

This gathering focused on beginning the day by dedicating the "first fruits" of our lives to God through prayer, repentance, spiritual warfare, healing, and practical discipleship. Joel encouraged believers to seek the Lord first, surrendering their thoughts, words, eyes, ears, hands, feet, and decisions so that every part of the day would be guided by the Holy Spirit (Matthew 6:33; Proverbs 3:5-6; Romans 12:1-2).

The session opened with a corporate prayer of dedication followed by a declaration of the full Armor of God (Ephesians 6:10-18). Each piece of armor was prayed over individually: the Belt of Truth, Breastplate of Righteousness, Shoes of the Gospel of Peace, Shield of Faith, Helmet of Salvation, and the Sword of the Spirit. Joel emphasized that the Sword of the Spirit is the Word of God and challenged believers to remain in daily Scripture so their spiritual discernment remains sharp (Hebrews 4:12; Psalm 119:105; Joshua 1:8).

The gathering then entered an extended time of "fire prayers," confessing personal and generational sins while renouncing ungodly covenants, occult practices, false religions, mystical philosophies, and every agreement that opposes the Lordship of Jesus Christ. Participants declared the cleansing power of the blood of Jesus over every family line, initiation, spoken curse, and spiritual bondage, proclaiming freedom through Christ's victory on the cross (1 John 1:9; Deuteronomy 18:9-14; Acts 19:18-20; Galatians 3:13; Colossians 2:13-15).

Joel also prayed against fear, poverty, unemployment, oppression, confusion, and every work of the enemy, asking the Holy Spirit to bring complete freedom and renewed dedication to Jesus Christ alone.

Special intercession followed for physical, emotional, and spiritual healing. Prayer was offered for Kevin, Kevin's father-in-law, and every participant needing restoration, asking God to heal broken hearts, anxious minds, and physical illness while honoring the group's season of fasting (James 5:14-16; Isaiah 53:5; Psalm 147:3; Isaiah 58:6-11).

The session also focused on restoring relationships. Joel encouraged forgiveness, reconciliation, and practical acts of obedience by reaching out to parents, spouses, siblings, family members, and friends. Using Jesus carrying the cross as an illustration of perseverance, he reminded believers that healing often begins with taking the first faithful step toward reconciliation (Matthew 5:23-24; Romans 12:18; Ephesians 4:31-32; Hebrews 12:1-3).

Prayer was offered for marriages, asking God to restore unity, communication, and love between husbands and wives.

Joel also prayed for children and families, asking God to give parents discernment regarding entertainment and media that may normalize occult or spiritually harmful influences. Believers were encouraged to guard what enters their homes and to raise children according to biblical wisdom (Philippians 4:8; Proverbs 22:6; Deuteronomy 6:6-9).

Following the prayer, Joel taught that offering God the first fruits of each day invites His blessing over every area of life. He reminded the group that God has not given us a spirit of fear but of power, love, and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). Referring to the parable of the wise and foolish virgins, he encouraged believers to continually keep their spiritual lamps full through daily fellowship with God (Matthew 25:1-13).

Joel emphasized that believers are vessels created not merely to receive from God but to pour His love into others (John 7:38; 2 Corinthians 4:7). Following the example of Jesus, who did only what the Father directed (John 5:19), Christians are called to live lives of surrender, obedience, and love. He also reminded participants not to live under shame or condemnation after failure, but to receive God's forgiveness and continue walking faithfully (Romans 8:1).

The gathering concluded with the Lord's Prayer (Matthew 6:9-13), a corporate prayer of surrender, thanksgiving for testimonies of God's transforming work, and encouragement to continue walking in faith, obedience, and the power of the Holy Spirit throughout the day.

Christa shared that her sister had discovered a hard lump near her abdomen that could be a hernia, and she was praying for her mother's health. Joel discussed his progress on writing a trilogy of books inspired by dreams and spiritual guidance, emphasizing the importance of inner healing before deliverance and developing a relationship with the Holy Spirit. Ronnie shared a dream he had in February where he received specific directions from God, but he was struggling with hearing God's voice and needed to work on listening rather than just talking in prayer. Glen mentioned a recent dream where he felt God speaking about purity and righteousness covering the world, and he shared a Bible verse that seemed relevant to his experience. The group ended with prayer for Christa's mother's health situation and discussion about Heather's ongoing roommate issues, with Joel providing spiritual guidance about listening to God before making decisions about living situations.

Teaching on Faith, Fear, Pride, and Spiritual Warfare
Joel delivered an extended teaching to the group on the nature of spiritual warfare, the role of pride, the enemy's tactics, and the path to healing through faith and surrender.
Details
Joel: Explained that sin is separation from God, not merely individual acts; the acts are the fruit of sin.
Joel: Described how the enemy uses doubt to birth fear, which escalates to anxiety and panic, and how the body reacts to spiritual attack.
Joel: Taught that pride twists perception and is used by the enemy to separate people from God; referenced God calling the Hebrew people "stiff-necked."
Joel: Used the analogy of Jesus as the vine and believers as branches; explained pruning as refinement and the removal of bad fruit.
Joel: Referenced the three attacks of the enemy: pride of life, lust of the eyes, and lust of the flesh.
Joel: Cited Revelation 12:11 — overcoming by the blood of the Lamb, the word of testimony, and not loving one's life unto death.
Joel: Encouraged the group to study the Fruit of the Spirit (Galatians) and to speak love rather than retaliation.
Joel: Warned against Pharmakia (demonic influence through pharmaceuticals) and encouraged turning to God as Jehovah Rapha (the Healer).
Joel: Encouraged the group to read the book of John to understand God's love and to use the Bible as their operator's manual.
Conclusion
The teaching emphasized surrender, faith over fear, and the Bible as the foundation for spiritual health.
Group members were encouraged to declare the Armor of God, study Scripture daily, and speak life over their bodies.

This was a prayer meeting led by Joel where he shared a detailed vision about padlocks and keys on a fence, which he interpreted as representing the heart of God and spiritual ownership between Christ and the Church. Joel discussed the importance of having a heart that comprehends and how the Bible provides vocabulary for prophecy, sharing insights from a recent School of Prophets message about understanding how God speaks to prophets. Christa shared a dream about her son Jonathan where she saw something under his skin that she cast out, which Joel and Glenn interpreted as potentially being a generational or bloodline issue. The group discussed how dreams and visions can provide spiritual confirmation and guidance, with Alex mentioning that he often receives clear dreams and visions after Pentecost.

Overall Summary:
Handling Offensive Language and Forgiveness

Joel shared insights about handling offensive language and maintaining a heart of forgiveness, drawing from personal experiences and biblical teachings. He emphasized the importance of not letting negative words or actions affect one's spirit and encouraged others to speak about God without fear. The discussion then shifted to Christa's dream about her son, where she saw something under his skin that she believed to be a demon. Joel suggested that the dream might be related to generational issues in Christa's family, particularly regarding anger and addiction, and recommended that she pray about it and consider studying the topic further.

Spiritual Revelations and Dream Interpretations

The group discussed spiritual revelations and interpretations, with Glenn sharing a feeling from the Holy Spirit that a dream or message was connected to bloodlines, which Joel confirmed could represent generational or DNA influences. Joel advised Christa to pray and seek God's guidance to understand the meaning behind her dream rather than depending on human interpretation. The conversation ended with worship and communion preparations, where Joel shared a revelation about non-fermented wine being considered the "best wine" mentioned in biblical accounts.

Religious Discussion and Prayer Meeting

Joel and Alex then discussed the importance of receiving prophetic revelations during group prayers and encouraged participants to write down any messages they receive from the Holy Spirit. Deb then led a prayer where she thanked God for recent revelations and asked for wisdom, understanding, and guidance for the group's activities.

Spiritual Visions and Deliverance Discussion

Alex shared three visions he received, including lines of shooters, a breach being closed (interpreted as a positive change), and letters walking directly to Deb's spirit. Joel saw a lamb and Tigger from Winnie the Pooh, suggesting there's a loyal but wild person in Deb's life who might need prayer. When Elizabeth joined the meeting, she expressed feeling alone and struggling with bitterness and anger due to ongoing difficulties in her life. Alex and Joel provided spiritual insights and visions about Elizabeth's situation, including images of a mouth being destroyed and a mummified child, which Elizabeth confirmed resonated with her experiences. Alex offered to provide deliverance prayers weekly to help Elizabeth with her spiritual and emotional challenges.

Spiritual Guidance for Family Challenges

The group held a prayer session for Elizabeth, who shared feelings of isolation and lack of support from her sisters despite being the oldest. Joel and Alex provided spiritual guidance, using analogies about horses pulling a broken carriage to help Elizabeth understand that her family members were trying to help but lacked understanding of her situation. During the prayer, Alex performed a spiritual binding ceremony to protect Elizabeth from spiritual attacks, while Joel shared visions of a small angel defeating a shadow dragon, suggesting that with proper spiritual authority and support, Elizabeth could overcome the challenges she faces. The group encouraged Elizabeth to attend future prayer calls and work on forgiveness towards her family members as a key step in her spiritual journey.

Spiritual Guidance and Healing Discussion

The group discussed spiritual guidance and healing, with Joel and Alex providing counsel to Elizabeth about forgiveness and rebuilding family relationships. Joel shared insights about releasing bitterness and letting God handle judgment, while Alex offered prayers and scriptural guidance including verses from Matthew and Isaiah. The conversation ended with Lynn praying for Joel's marriage and strength in teaching the group, followed by Alex providing additional spiritual wisdom and encouragement to Elizabeth through specific biblical references.

Joel led a spiritual teaching session focused on soul fragmentation and deliverance, sharing insights he gained from a recent hot air balloon experience that revealed his own fear of heights may stem from fragmented soul parts. He explained biblical concepts about spiritual realms, including the difference between heavenly places and regions of darkness, and discussed how souls can be broken and fragmented through trauma or spiritual attacks. Joel emphasized the importance of setting captives free and restoring fragmented souls, citing verses from Isaiah, Jeremiah, and other biblical texts to support his teaching about spiritual restoration and the authority believers have to heal and deliver others. The session included prayer and worship, with participants reading selected verses and Joel sharing personal experiences of healing work in Pakistan and with various group members dealing with spiritual bondage.

Joel discussed the reality of spiritual warfare and explained that when people's purposes attract opposition, it's because they have become targets to the enemy's strategy. He shared biblical examples of Joseph, David, and Jesus to illustrate how those with clear divine purposes often face resistance, but emphasized that this resistance is not designed to stop believers but to clarify their convictions and test their commitment. The discussion concluded with a prayer and a question from Julie about the difference between the crushing of the grape and the olive, which Joel did not fully address in the transcript.
Spiritual Warfare and Calling Insights
Joel shared insights on spiritual warfare, emphasizing that enemy attacks indicate a person's spiritual calling and weight, and that God uses pressure to build maturity and purpose. He explained that the depth of opposition often correlates with the size of one's calling, using examples from biblical figures like David, Elijah, and Paul. Joel encouraged the group to endure challenges with supernatural endurance and faith, suggesting fasting as a way to strengthen the spirit and hear from God more clearly.

Spiritual Growth Development Process
Joel discussed the spiritual growth process from milk to bread to meat, explaining that believers should start with basic Bible stories but progress to deeper study and understanding. He emphasized the importance of balancing personal spiritual pursuit with connection to the church community, comparing the church to a mother providing milk while the father brings meat. Joel stressed that spiritual growth requires obedience, wrestling with the Lord's messages, and developing the ability to "chew on" biblical teachings rather than simply consuming surface-level information.
Pentecost Experience and Holy Spirit
Joel shared his experience of Pentecost, explaining the biblical significance of the event and describing how he felt the power of the Holy Spirit during a church service. He recounted how he laid hands on a pastor named Aaron, who had been experiencing throat issues, and felt a strong release of Holy Spirit fire that caused the pastor to jump. Joel emphasized the importance of understanding that spiritual power comes from the Holy Spirit rather than asking God for more power.
Spiritual Growth and Holy Living
Joel shared insights about spiritual growth and the importance of having clean hands, a pure heart, and a holy walk to connect with God and hear His voice. He emphasized the need to purify one's conscience and focus on understanding people's hearts rather than just their actions. Joel also discussed the concept of persecution being part of God's plan and the importance of forgiveness and obedience, drawing parallels to Jesus's example and encouraging the group to be examples of Christ in their actions.
Prayer and Conscience Restoration
Joel shared insights about prayer and connecting with people through personal testimonies, emphasizing the importance of praying for those who need guidance and using biblical principles to help heal seared consciences. He explained how God's creation demonstrates His wisdom and how people can restore their conscience to follow a holy walk. The discussion concluded with Joel leading a prayer for healing hearts, restoring consciences, and living a life of service and purity.
Spiritual Baptism and Cleansing Prayer
Julie asked about using biblical references to pray for the sprinkling of Jesus's blood on her conscience and for her bloodline. Joel referenced 1 Peter 3:21 and Hebrews 10:22 to discuss the concept of spiritual baptism and cleansing from a guilty conscience. Joel then prayed for everyone present, asking for hearts to be sprinkled to cleanse from guilt and for revelation of any spiritual issues like offense or bitterness.
Parent's Prayer Concerns Discussion
Chosen2Disciple shared concerns about her daughter Madison's behavior, including drinking and resistance to prayer, and described how she felt led to pray specifically for Madison's safety during a graduation party where Madison later called for help. Joel explained the difference between godly sorrow and worldly sorrow, encouraging Chosen2Disciple to praise God for answering her prayer so quickly and to continue praying for Madison's spiritual understanding. The conversation ended with Jessi offering a prayer for the group, followed by Joel sharing a relevant Bible verse from John 14:23 that tied into the discussion about God's presence and love.

The Bible gives us clarity on who the ENEMY is NOT: It is NOT the Flesh and Blood, but spiritual powers of darkness (Ephesians 6:12). We are encouraged as believers in Christ to be aware of the Spiritual Warfare happening around us. The Armor of God was given by God to protect us on the battlefield. (Ephesians 6:10-18). Yet so many believers walk around carrying arrows (thoughts) of jealousy, anger, bitterness, unforgiveness and more. These arrows in the Bible are called "fiery darts". Why? Because these thoughts come at us and if we don't resist them, they will remain in us and tear us apart inside. (Burning). We are given ARMOR to DEFEND against these thoughts and attacks from the enemy who would speak into our minds. We tend to carry these thoughts and create STRONGHOLDS where the enemy feeds and grows. This can lead to TORMENT. The enemy comes to Kill, Steal and Destroy. (John 10:10) "The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: (but Jesus says) I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. The Word also warns against a "lack of knowledge" leading to destruction. One of the more powerful warnings is found in Hosea 4:6: "My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children." So I share what the Holy Spirit taught me through the study of His Word. I encourage you to study the Word for yourself and see what the Lord Jesus Christ shows you! He is the LIGHT and the darkness CANNOT overcome it. John 1:5 (KJV) states: "And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.
